Ladner Soccer Club Referee's Checklist

Before you leave home:

Phone Field Line 604-940-1009 to make sure there is no change.

Write time, place, age and teams in your book

  • Book/cards/watch/coin/whistle/pencil
  • Badge on uniform
  • Spare coin/whistle/pencil in Kit
  • Towel/Water/Garbage Bag in Kit
  • Uniform worn correctly - no caps/sweats/jacket.
  • Socks Pulled Up
  •  Arrive at park 30 minutes prior

On arrival at field:

  • Check nets installed correctly, no gaps for ball to go through
  • Check corner flags installed correctly
  • Check field suitable for play and that it is correctly lined
  • Check for Penalty Spot (12 yards from Goal Line)
  • Warm Up-Stretch

Check teams:

  • Make sure teams wear different colors - home team changes
  • Make sure goalies are obviously different
  • Home team first - team list/numbers/id cards/captain
  • Must have Shin Pads
  • Cleats with screw-ins can not be sharp and none missing.
  • No METAL cleats on Holly Turf
  • After October 1st,  U-11 and up need ID cards .
  • If a team has no cards than report to the other team. They have a right to protest, but should still play.

Instructions to players: 

  • No jewelry ( No tape. Has to be removed if unsafe)
  • No profanity
  • Play with glasses at own Risk
  • Let Referee call fouls and offside and if you do not hear the whistle –PLAY ON

Instructions to Coaches:

  • Coach responsible for sideline conduct
  • Team and fans all on one side of field
  • Substitute via center field on team possession
  • How many substitutes do they have?
  • Referee/assistant will call offside/fouls/throw-ins
  • If no assistant, parents will assist, but only to put
  • flag up when the whole ball crosses the line, referee will call off-sides/fouls.

Confirm age group, level and Length of time

(for example: U-16 , Cup Play, 40 minute halves , 2 x 15 minute complete OT, then shoot-out)

PUT YOUR NAME AND REFEREE NUMBER ON LIST BEFORE GIVING IT TO OPPOSING COACH.

- Repeat instructions for visiting team

Kick Off:

- Obtain and check game ball from home team.
- Have a back-up ball ready so check that also
- Captains to center field - shake hands
- Home team flips coin - winner chooses side, loser gets ball
- Set watch for game start, and reset for 2nd half
